APEC-6Na, a phenol ether carboxylate also known as sodium alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ether carboxylate, is a new type of anionic-nonionic surfactant. Its structure is very similar to that of soap, but the embedded EO chains give it the characteristics of both anionic and nonionic surfactants, allowing it to be used over a wide pH range. It exhibits excellent cleaning, emulsifying, and dispersing properties, as well as the ability to disperse calcium soaps; it possesses good foaming power and foam stability; it is resistant to acids, alkalis, hard water, high temperatures, oxidizing agents, and reducing agents; it has good compatibility with other ingredients and, in particular, does not interfere with the performance of cationic surfactants; it offers good solubilizing properties, making it suitable for formulating functional transparent products, and is readily biodegradable.

1. Phenol-ether carboxylates contain two hydrophilic groups with different properties (anionic and nonionic), combining the advantages of both anionic and nonionic surfactants. This prevents the chromatographic separation that occurs in reservoir rocks when anionic and nonionic surfactants are used in combination.

2. They have low critical micelle concentrations and surface tensions; when formulated, they can achieve ultra-low interfacial tensions with a wide range of crude oils of varying qualities.

3. They are resistant to high temperatures and high salinity; when formulated with sodium heavy alkylbenzene sulfonate and other anionic surfactants, they enhance the latter’s resistance to hardness.

4. It exhibits strong cleaning power against oily contaminants, making it particularly suitable for heavy-duty industrial cleaning formulations and surface cleaning; it effectively removes impurities such as mud, sand, and carbon.

5. The phenol ether carboxylate APEC-6 possesses excellent penetration and wetting properties.

Applications:

In the petroleum industry, it can be used as an oil displacement agent, an emulsifier for crude oil transportation, a viscosity reducer, and a solubilizer.

The phenol ether carboxylate APEC-6Na can improve crude oil recovery rates; when used for transporting viscous heavy oil, a dosage of 0.01% or higher produces satisfactory viscosity-reducing effects and prevents wax precipitation, and the salt content or mineralization level of the oil does not affect its viscosity-reducing performance; during chemical oil recovery in high-mineral-content reservoirs, APEC products demonstrate superior resistance to hardness, significantly outperforming imported petroleum sulfonate systems.

Application

It can be used in household detergents, industrial cleaning agents, and phosphate-free detergents; in the textile industry for processes such as scouring, mercerizing, bleaching, softening, and dyeing; as an emulsifier and viscosity reducer resistant to high temperatures and high-concentration electrolytes in tertiary oil recovery and oil transportation, to improve crude oil recovery rates and prevent wax precipitation; in the paper industry, it is used for deinking waste paper and in softener formulations; in the leather industry, it serves as a component of degreasing agents, among other applications.

Directions for Use

This product is a paste with poor flowability and must be heated to 50–70°C in a reactor before being blended with other products.

1. Depending on customer requirements, the product will be packaged in ton containers or 200-kg drums and shipped to the designated location by the date specified by the customer. 
2. This product is non-toxic and non-flammable; it should be stored and transported as a general chemical. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area.
